WHERE WE ARE

In searching for the perfect home to create the Margolis Method Center Int’l, we developed a list of clear priorities. We envisioned a rural place of great natural beauty, where training artists could feel enveloped in a focused and creative environment. At the same time, we wanted participants to have proximity to New York City and all it has to offer.

Highland Lake, NY not only perfectly met these goals, it exceeded our expectations! With its access to the pristine Delaware River, amazing Bald Eagles, Catskill and Pocono Mountain ranges and a vibrant arts community, all just 90 miles from NYC -- we knew we found our home!  The area is steeped in history and only twenty minutes from the original Woodstock site.

The Town of Highland has five Hamlets, Barryville, Eldred, Highland Lake, Minisink Ford and Yulan. The studio is in the Hamlet of Highland Lake, situated just off the beautiful mountain lake of the same name. Artist housing is located in Barryville, overlooking the Delaware River and walking distance to local restaurants, antique shops, post office and a Farmers Market on Saturdays.

Buses from NYC come to Monticello and Port Jervis NY, both twenty minutes from the Center. Metro North comes to Port Jervis. A pick-up can be organized from the bus or train stations. The closest airports are Stewart Int’l (SWF) in Newburgh NY and Wilkes Barre Scranton (AVP) in Scranton, PA. All the major NY airports Newark (EWR) La Guardia (LGA) and JFK also work well with shuttles connecting to the bus and train lines. Detailed travel information is included in artist packets when you register and we are here to help you make all your arrangements.
